Open Heart Surgery

This is an open-heart operation in which arteries or veins are taken from another part of the body to channel needed blood flow to the coronary arteries. During the surgery these arteries or veins are connected directly to the coronary arteries on the surface of the heart beyond the blockages. This way, the blood can flow through them to bypass the narrowed or closed points.

Coronary Angiogram and Cardiac Catheterization

The coronary angiogram also called Cardiac Catheterization is the most useful test for diagnosing Coronary Artery Disease because it allows the doctor to see exactly where the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked. Our physician inserts a long tube called guiding catheter, into the artery and advances it into the blocked artery. With the help of an X-ray the doctor can observe the arteries and can identify any narrowing or blockage in your heart.

Coronary Angioplasties with Stenting

It is very similar to Angiogram. Doctor inserts a sheath for the catheter into the blood vessel, most often in the upper leg or groin area, and sometime in the arm. A very small balloon catheter is passed through the sheath and into the blood vessel. With the help of the X-ray, the cardiologist follows the path of the catheter on the fluoroscope.

Once the balloon is at the narrowing of the artery, the balloon is centered, it is then inflated to open the blockage. A stent is then implanted to support the artery and keep the vessel open. It is introduced into your artery just after Angioplasty and is positioned at the site of the obstruction.

Radio Frequency Ablations

The radio frequency ablation is a technique that is used to treat palpitations. Radio-frequency energy is low power, high frequency alternating current which has been used for decades by surgeons to cut tissues or to stop bleeding. A much smaller dose of radio-frequency is used for the treatment of palpitations.
